An upscale German beer hall in the heart of Old Pasadena, this haunt features a long list of imported beers and enough sausages to keep the local burghers well fed. The space is imposing, with long dark-wood bars (upstairs and down), polished wood floors and a sense of age even though the room is brand new.

German food and beer is starting to creep into Los Angeles, with the likes of Berlin Currywurst and Wurstkuche leading the way, but Der Wolfskopf is perhaps the most spacious beer hallto open this year.

RESERVATIONS

Concept: It's a German-style beer hall by Ryan Sweeney, John Bower, Brandon Bradford and Alen Aivazian, the guys behind Verdugo Bar, the Surly Goat, Little Bear and Blind Donkey. There's "Resevoir Dogs" and hockey on the big screens, Battleship and Connect Four games, brats, beer, schnitzel, tots and housemade pretzles with beer cheese dip. Expect long communal tables with hot and sweet mustard squeeze bottles and "Game of Thrones"-ish lighting fixtures.
